Do you have experiences based around race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, occupation, cultural background, age, gender orientation, ethnicity, social status, and/or lifestyle choices?

Want to challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue?

Apply to volunteer to be a human book at The Human Library® event from 1–3 PM in the Atrium of the Downtown Monroe County Public Library on Saturday, April 2!

The event is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue, The Human Library® is an event in which difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered. Individuals volunteer as human books and participants become readers during short one-on-one conversations aimed to create dialogue and understanding between people. Conversations take place in a safe and neutral space.

Past book titles have included: African-American Woman, Amputee, Bipolar, Ex-Offender, Houseless Person, Invisible Illness, Parent of an Autistic Child, Traumatic Brain Injury, and more!
