Beacon is hosting a Volunteer Day on Sunday, October 24th from 11am to 4pm at Friend's Place Shelter, and we need your help! Our goal for this event is to tackle several much-needed improvement projects within the building during its closed hours.
Friend's Place Shelter is an overnight shelter that serves 40 individuals per night, and it is the only secular shelter serving single men and women in Bloomington. It shelters around 16 women and 24 men each night.
We need all the people-power we can get. Volunteers can help out all day, or just for an hour!
Activities will include:
- Reorganizing several rooms
- Going through items in our storage room
- Cleaning floors
- Minor spackling and repairs
- Painting
- And much more, depending on time and the number of volunteers
