Middle Way House's The RISE! Transitional Housing is seeking assistance from volunteers to revitalize several spaces between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, January 18. The RISE! is a program for low-income adults recovering from the impacts of violence in an effort to assist in navigating through barriers and challenges. A lack of access to safe, affordable housing is often a significant barrier to survivors of violence and is a critical factor to achieving long-term safety.
Interested volunteers will need to familiarize themselves with our program mission and be willing to lift and interact with cleaning products as they will be assisting in cleaning, organizing, and some painting.
In an effort to provide individuals fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking the necessary space to heal and foster their strengths to further develop their capacities for self-determination, “Raise up the RISE!” seeks to revitalize several spaces, such as but not limited to, our community room, resource room, empty apartment units, and reception area. These spaces, such as our community room provide an educational space for disadvantaged youth seeking to continue their education from home due to the ongoing pandemic.
Over the course of the past two decades, The RISE! has served over 450 families by utilizing a program designed to help address a number of constraints that so often impede the transition from danger to self-determination. By assisting survivors to achieve economic security and foster their strengths to further develop their capacities for self-determination, the RISE! Transitional Housing Program seeks to provide access to permanent, safe, and affordable housing. Our program offers advocacy, emotional support, resource referrals, youth empowerment services, and assistance in gaining economic stability through education, employment, and/or applying for public assistance.
