Description

The Friends of the Library's Big Fall Book Sale is a fun, community event which takes place inside Monroe County Public Library on Kirkwood Ave. Folks love browsing through thousands of books and finding great bargains.

Can you help for a couple of hours with the Friends' Sale? The Sale runs from Friday, September 13 through Monday, September 16. We will set up for the sale on Thursday, September 12th. Friends members can enjoy a first look at the sale Thursday evening from 5:30 – 7 pm.

You make it possible for us to raise significant funds to support Library programming as well as to get good books out into the community at bargain prices.

You can choose the shift(s) you like and sign up here: https://is.gd/FallSale2019

Volunteers are needed on:

Thursday to help set up. We will begin at 8 am and continue until things are ready (probably 2 or 3 pm.) Come when you can. Set up involves:

Morning – moving and unpacking boxes. (Maybe not the best choice if you have back problems).

Afternoon – arranging items in an organized and attractive display. If you really like making order from chaos, come Thursday after 12 noon and help get things tidy for the Early Bird Sale.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday to work during the Sale. We need volunteers to help customers, keep displays orderly, and assist the cashiers – usually, three or four volunteers at any given time.

    The Sale runs:

    Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Hardbacks $1 and paperbacks $.50)

    Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Hardbacks $1 and paperbacks $.50)

    Sunday 12 noon – 6 p.m. (Fill a bag for $5; Fill a box for $7)

    Monday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. (All remaining items are Free)

Monday we need many people to help take down/pack up about 1:30 p.m. Take down involves consolidating materials, breaking down boxes, and moving boxes from the Sale room. We are generally able to complete this work before 3:30.

Please review the following schedule and go to the online volunteer sign up program so you can better see which shifts are available. Your volunteer help will be very much appreciated.
