Makevention is an annual celebration of the DIY spirit in Bloomington, Indiana, hosted by Bloominglabs and the Monroe County Public Library. Makers from Bloomington and the surrounding region will be there showing off their projects and engaging attendees in making activities.
This year, we're adding two new ways to share with and learn from your fellow maker-minded Hoosiers: workshops and presentations/panels. These will each have dedicated space in the Convention Center where attendees can participate and focus on making and gaining knowledge. Come learn to solder, make chainmail, pick locks, find out about Cook's classic car restoration, and more!
The event is family friendly and free, though donations are appreciated. If you're interested in learning more about the maker movement, local makers, and DIY projects, come check us out at the Monroe Convention Center on August 25, 10am-4pm!
Volunteers will help direct exhibitors to their tables and help with setup, to direct attendees to exhibitors and events, and to do general floor-running tasks including taking water, printouts, badges, etc. to tables.
All volunteers are invited to the post-Makevention party (to be held at Bloominglabs immediately after), and will receive a free Makevention t-shirt.
We're open to volunteers age 16+, who can give at least 2 hours, but they don't need to be there for the whole 7 a.m.-5 p.m. load-in/out. Setup/Staging (8 - 10 AM), 10 - 11 AM, 11 PM - 12 PM, 12 - 1 PM, 1 - 2 PM, 2 - 4 PM, Teardown (4 - 5 PM)
