AIDS Memorial Quilt Display Hosts and Helpers - Nov 17

Calendar Happens On Nov 17, 2017
Time 8am-12pm
Expired

Description

The AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display for three days, November 14-16 at the Indiana Memorial Union in Alumni Hall.

This event will help commemorate the lives lost to AIDS, while providing HIV/AIDS education and awareness to the IU community and general public at no cost. While The Quilt is on display, we will also be providing free HIV testing and educational workshops.

The Quilt, first displayed in 1987, is made up of more than 49,000 panels created by friends, partners and family members to transform their loss into hope and healing. The stories told through these panels has become an effective tool to educate and inspire individuals to take responsibility of their own health as well as their family, friends, and community.

We are looking for volunteers to fill 2-hour shifts to help greet, read names, and assist with other tasks during display days and for set up and tear down the day before and after.
