Become a Host Family
If you are looking for a truly rewarding experience, become a Safe Families for Children (Safe Families) Host Family.
You will make a lasting impression on a child in need and possibly change the trajectory of a family.
Display Christ's love to vulnerable families in our community by becoming a host family with Safe Families for Children. Host families are screened and trained, just like foster parents. They will care for children on a temporary basis when a family is in a crisis and has no one else to call. The average age of a child in SFFC is 4 years old. The average length of stay is just over a month. All host families are asked to do is love and care for the child while the family coach works with the family to get back on their feet.

As a growing chapter of Safe Families, Monroe County Safe Families has many opportunities for you to get involved. You can find out more about all of the different ways to serve on our volunteer page here: http://bloomington.safe-families.org/volunteer-application/
Family Friends: They provide support to placing families (e.g., mentoring and transportation) and Host Families (e.g., babysitting and providing meals).
Resource Friends: They donate lightly used items such as beds, furniture, and clothing to help parents get back on their feet.
Family Coaches: They are trained to provide resources and casework-like services to Placing Parents. They also ensure that kids are well cared for in Host-Family homes.
