Description

Nothing says "Happy Mother's Day" quite like a springtime walk in the woods. Bring your mom and family with on this lightly guided hike through The Nature Conservancy's Green's Bluff Preserve. We'll take time to stop and look at the many wildflowers on display and maybe do some birdwatching too.

We'll meet at the new Racoon Woods Trail head and take a 1.4 mile walk that meanders through active forest restoration, beech-maple forest, and past our new pollinator habitat. The trail is rated as moderate, with some slopes, very small creek crossings, and potential for getting a little muddy.

Species of note include many types of spring wildflowers, maidenhair ferns, plantain-leaved sedge, puttyroot, beeches, sycamores, hemlocks, great blue herons, tanagers, and woodthrushes.

This is a very family-friendly event the day before Mother's Day. Attendees should come prepared with good walking shoes, drinking water, and weather-appropriate layers. Bring binoculars if you have them!

Please RSVP here so we can best prepare for the day: Wildflower Walk at Green’s Bluff.
