Please join us to experience The Human Element, a new film from acclaimed photographer and storyteller James Balog. Mr. Balog uses his camera to reveal how environmental change is affecting the lives of everyday Americans. Following the four classical elements— air, earth, fire, and water— to frame his journey, Balog explores wildfires, hurricanes, sea level rise, coal mining, and the changes in the air we breathe. With compassion and heart, The Human Element tells an urgent story while giving inspiration for a more balanced relationship between humanity and nature.
Mr. Balog will provide a talk at 5:30 PM, followed by a reception and activism fair at 6:30 PM, and a film viewing at 7:30 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
This event is sponsored by Indiana University and the City of Bloomington. IU sponsoring organizations include the Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, the IU Media School, the Environmental Resilience Institute, the Integrated Program in the Environment, SustainIU, the College Arts & Humanities Institute, First Year Experience, the School of Public & Environmental Affairs, the Department of Geography, and Concerned Scientists @ IU.
