About Us

Opportunity House is a volunteer-run resale store that sells items donated by Bloomington community members.
Money raised from sales goes to support the programs of Btown Pathways (formerly MCUM) including their nationally accredited income-based early childhood center and self-sufficiency center.

What We Do

Opportunity House sells gently used clothing, books, household, antiques, toys and other items at low prices so that those struggling to make ends meet can afford to shop with us.

We  “reduce, reuse, and recycle” and we are local.

Our team of dedicated, award-winning, volunteers keep the store running smoothly by taking on a wide variety of tasks throughout the week. Anything from pricing to cashiering, sorting to ironing, data entry to stocking we have a spot for you.

As numerous research studies have shown that high-quality early childhood education can have a long-lasting impact on the child, the family, and the broader community we are proud to support Btown Pathways. Research indicates that quality early childhood education is one of the best investments a community can make.

Btown Pathways also offers coaching and resource assistance to families and individuals of the Monroe County community who are experiencing hardship. Their programs serve to make sure that these crises don’t have to leave families hungry, cold, or faced with utility shut-off or eviction. Whether this crisis is short or long-term, MCUM helps clients form a tailored plan of action.
