Bloomington Old Time Music and Dance Group

Bloomington Old Time Music and Dance Group (BOTMDG) is a nonprofit, community-based organization that has been active in Bloomington for 51 years! With members ranging in age from 7-87 years, we are a diverse, volunteer-led group that enjoys learning and playing "old time" American folk music (featuring fiddle, piano, banjo, and upright bass, etc) and/or dancing traditional Contra and Square Dance Styles.

Bloomington Old Time Music and Dance Group (BOTMDG) hosts a free, public Contra Dance every Wednesday night at the Harmony School Gymnasium, accompanied by live music. We also offer regular lessons and an annual Dance Retreat in August. Preserving the "old time" genre of music and dance is important to BOTMDG. We are allied with the Country Song and Dance Society (CSDS) and offer periodic demonstations and educational activities.
