About Us
SAO advocate case workers are retired IU faculty and staff. We actively recruit new volunteers all the time!
No matter what the situation is, Student Advocates are here to listen nonjudgmentally, provide unconditional support, and help a student resolve challenges so they can successfully maintain progress towards their degree.
We have two teams of advocates, for Academic & Conduct related issues. Four professional full time staff are joined by undergraduate and graduate students in supporting the volunteer advocates.
Come join us. Contact us and we'll set up a time to meet. NOTE: YOU MUST BE RETIRED, I.U. STAFF OR FACULTY or bring a comparable foundation of career experience to apply for this volunteer position!
Happy to chat with you to help you learn more.
What We Do
SAO Advocates help IU students foster skills that will positively influence their life at IU. We help resolve academic, financial appeals and conduct issues to stay on track for their degree. SAO is a department within the IU Office of Student Life.
