The 2023 HOC 5K and 1 mile registration, fundraising, and volunteer pages are OPEN! Save the date for the 24th running of Hoosiers Outrun Cancer powered by Bloomington Health Foundation. The event is one of the oldest and largest 5K events in Indiana!
What We Do
Hoosiers Outrun Cancer (HOC) proudly supports members of our local community who are fighting cancer including patients, their family, and their friends.
There are many volunteer opportunities available -
Over 200 volunteers make this event successful for 4000+ attendees each year. Volunteer opportunities range from assisting with registration and packet pick up, set up, water stations, cheer squads, photography, and more. Sign Up to Volunteer Today!

Hoosiers Outrun Cancer is a community celebration of all the amazing people (we all know someone) who have faced cancer in our community. Teams are formed around people being honored or remembered to show our collective support and the strength in our community when we all work together.
100% of the proceeds raised from Hoosiers Outrun Cancer provide free cancer support services to anyone impacted by cancer (patients, survivors, families, caregivers, and friends).These supports include counseling, health and wellness classes, therapy, social activities and events, direct financial assistance, and so much more.
Funds raised from past Hoosiers Outrun Cancer events made it possible to open a new cancer community center in Bloomington, Indiana located at 1719 W 3rd Street, so that no one faces cancer alone in our community!
