Chess Club
Chess Club is the perfect place for kids who love strategy, creativity, and friendly competition. Together, members will build their skills, learn new techniques, and challenge one another through guided play. Chess offers young people meaningful cognitive, social, and emotional benefits—boosting problem-solving, concentration, memory, strategic thinking, patience, and sportsmanship while also reducing screen time and supporting academic growth, especially in math.
A volunteer who would like to be a community partner and help take ownership of this program would be fantastic! We are also open to volunteers who simply want to help out.
Volunteers should have at least a basic understanding of chess to help teach and play games with members.
Ideally, volunteers can commit to an hour a week for the 10-week program.
This program takes place on Wednesdays from 5:15–6:00 PM, and we are looking for two volunteers each week.
Signing up for this opportunity will connect you with our Club staff to learn more and see if this is the right fit for you!
