Description

It's time for the Friends of the Library's Big Fall Book Sale. Can you help out with setting up or volunteering during our Big Fall Book Sale? Please check your calendar for when you might be available to volunteer during the sale.

The Friends of the Library Big Fall Book Sale will take place Friday, September 19 - Monday, September 22 with set up on Wednesday, September 17 and Thursday, September 18. Friends members enjoy the first opportunity to shop the sale on Thursday, September 18 from 4:30–7:30 pm. 

Can you volunteer to make the sale a success?

Wednesday, September 17: Set Up 4-6 pm: Setting up tables and moving boxes. Strong bodies needed!

Thursday, September 18: Set up 9 am until ready to go (about 1 pm): Set up involves: Move and unpack boxes. Arrange items in an organized and attractive display.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, September 19-21: Work a 2-hour shift during the Sale. Volunteers will help customers, keep displays orderly, put out new books, and assist the cashiers. We need 4 general volunteers in all time slots.

Monday, September 22: Monday is our Free Day! We need general volunteers to organize materials and help customers from 9 am-2 pm. Tear-down volunteers will consolidate materials, break down boxes, and move them from the Sale room from 1:30-3:00 p.m..

All volunteers must have a Monroe County Public Library volunteer application on file. You may contact volunteer@mcpl.info or (812) 349-3060 or (812) 349-3050 ext. 1000 to check whether your application is current. If you do not have a current application on file, you may complete a volunteer application and choose "Special Events" as your interest area for volunteering: https://mcpl.info/volunteer

MCPL volunteers must have a current background check on file in the Sterling Volunteers database. Confirm the status of your background check by contacting the above numbers or email.

Volunteers should attend one of the orientation sessions either via Zoom at zoom.mcpl.info on Thursday, September 11 from 5:30-6:30 pm or in person on Sunday, September 14 from 12:15-1:15 pm in Meeting Room 1B/1C at the Downtown Library.
