Not all heroes wear capes. Some help hardworking families file their taxes for FREE! Last year our incredible volunteers helped hard working families file 823 tax returns for free, saving our community nearly $200,000 in tax prep fees and bringing back $1,009,227 in the form of refunds & credits.
You can choose between these two roles:
Intake Specialists will welcome taxpayers to the site, ensure they have the required documentation for their tax appointment, and assist them in filling out the intake and interview form. Intake Specialists will work with the Site Coordinator to assign the taxpayer to the next available and appropriately qualified Tax Preparer.
Tax Preparer will sit one on one with taxpayers, use their tax forms along with the intake & interview forms and complete tax returns on the IRS provided software (returns are typically simple 1040 or 1040EZ). The position involves using computer equipment and software, professional interactions with taxpayers, other volunteers, and key partners, applying high ethical standards, and adhering to Internal Revenue Service policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Training and certification will begin for volunteer positions in late November - mid December.

Broadview Learning Center: Jan 30 - Apr 10, Thursdays 5-8pm
City Hall site: *(Need both English and bilingual volunteers)* Jan 29 - Apr 9, Wednesdays 5-8pm
Ellettsville Public Library: Jan 27 - Apr 14, Mondays 10am-1pm and Wednesdays 2-5pm
Indiana University site- Maurer school of law: Jan 27 - Mar 25, Mondays and Tuesdays 6:30-9:30 pm
Ivy Tech Bloomington: Jan 29 - Mar 5, Wednesday 2-5pm and Saturday 10am-1pm
Owen County Public Library: Feb 4 - Apr 12, Tuesday 12-3 pm, Thursday & Saturday 9:30 am -12:30 pm
Brown County Public Library: Feb 1 - Apr 10 (ask about hours)
