The Reality Store® is a simulation that helps junior high students appreciate the ‘realities’ of life and achieve a better understanding of personal finance. In the Reality Store® simulation, junior high students pretend they are a 28-year-old starting out in their life and career.
The students then visit stations (staffed by you, our volunteers) to determine how to spend their salaries and make ends meet, budgeting for transportation, housing, clothes, food, and so on.
This wonderful volunteer opportunity enlightens students and encourages them to consider extending their educational careers. 30 students will be in attendance to participate in this hands-on exercise which will teach them the importance of budgeting and help them see the impact that their grades can have on their future. We need around 15 volunteers to make this happen.
