The Reality Store® is a simulation that helps junior high students appreciate the ‘realities' of life and achieve a better understanding of personal finance. In the Reality Store® simulation, junior high students pretend they are a 28-year-old starting out in their life and career.
The students then visit stations (staffed by you, our volunteers) to determine how to spend their salaries and make ends meet, budgeting for transportation, housing, clothes, food, and so on.
This wonderful volunteer opportunity enlightens students and encourages them to consider extending their educational careers. Over 200 students will be in attendance to participate in this hands-on exercise which will teach them the importance of budgeting and help them see the impact that their grades can have on their future. We need around 50 total volunteers to make this happen.

Volunteers are welcome to sign up for one or multiple shifts. To volunteer, email Mary Lechner at mlechner@chamberbloomington.org
Background Check Required: Since you will be interacting with students, MCCSC requests that all volunteers fill out a free background check consent form with a picture of their driver's license. Then have it returned to us prior to the event. This document and the information contained in it will be treated with great care to ensure the privacy of all volunteers.
