Evening Garden Volunteering for Hoosier Hills Food Bank - 2018 Season

Expired

Description

HHFB's Garden program provides locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables for free distribution to those in need of emergency food assistance. The more volunteers, the more fresh food we can grow. No gardening experience is necessary. Join us anytime during regular garden volunteer hours: April through November:

  • Wednesdays 5:30-7:30 p.m.

To check for weather cancellations or special volunteer events, including farm gleaning, visit the HHFB Garden & Gleaning calendar.

We also welcome school, church and other community groups. Please schedule groups with Bradley Drake at (812) 334-8374 or garden@hhfoodbank.org.

History: Our Garden Program was born out of a continuing effort to increase the amount and nutritional quality of food provided to area food pantries and soup kitchens. To meet a rapidly growing need for emergency food assistance we have had to consider new ways to obtain food. Growing our own allows us to bring in varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables rarely donated to the food bank.
