Are you spending Spring Break in Bloomington, but are looking for something to do? Why not give back to your community!
On March 9th and 16th, Habitat for Humanity is looking for construction volunteers to help in the beginning stages of construction on a new home in Monroe County.
Habitat partners with families in the community who meet 3 criteria:
- Need for housing (which can be demonstrated in numerous ways)
- Ability to pay back their interest-free mortgage
- Willingness to partner (each adult in the household completes 250 hours of sweat equity with us)
Once they join the program, complete many of their hours including many homeowner readiness classes - we are able to partner with them in the actual construction of their home. We rely on volunteers to help us in this process! There is no experience necessary, as our Crew Leader will work alongside you, teaching the task as you go. You'll likely have the opportunity to work alongside the family as well - which is a great opportunity to get to know some of your community neighbors.
We will build on those days from 8:30am to 4:30pm, with a provided lunch at noon. if you're interested in joining us on one or both of these Saturdays, please contact a member of our Engagement Team at ec@monroecountyhabtiat.org, or sign up directly on our website. You will receive more details upon signing up!
