Come Glean with Us!
We head out to Harriman Farms every Tuesday morning (thru Oct.) between 8 a.m.-12 p.m. to harvest "the rest" - bringing back fresh food to our food bank to serve those in need.
Join this group so that our many hands can make light work of this task. The larger our group, the more fresh food we can harvest!
We meet at the food bank and carpool out to the Farm in Owen County.
HHFB's Garden & Gleaning programs provide locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables for free distribution to those in need of emergency food assistance. Volunteers and community supporters are the most important asset our programs have; the more volunteers, the more fresh food we raise and rescue.
Did You Know?
20% of all produce grown in commercial agriculture is lost because it is aesthetically not fit to sell. This is significant in South Central Indiana where over 278,000 households are food-insecure.
