Later this year - and for the first time in our 75+ year history - Monroe County United Ministries (MCUM) is opening a second site for our childcare program! Please help us prepare to provide even more affordable, high-quality care for children in your community by volunteering to set up this new site with us!
Beginning on Tuesday, May 30 and extending through Saturday, June 3rd, as many as 16 volunteers each day will be assisting us in emptying all 10 new classrooms, preparing them for painting, then putting on a fresh coat (or two!) to make each room sparkle! Each day will feature two shifts: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., but volunteers are more than welcome to stay all day, if you wish! Volunteer Coordinator Steve Thomas (sthomas@mcum.org [812] 339-3429 x24) will be on-site each day to ensure a smooth and well-supported volunteer experience that promises to be both fulfilling and fun!
This event is family- and teen-friendly! Youth under 16 must have adult supervision at a ratio of no more than 2 youths: 1 adult, but we encourage friends and families to sign up together to have an even more enjoyable experience! Once you're registered, watch for an e-mail from Steve with more information and instructions about your shift!
In Monroe County, only about one-quarter of all children (ages 0-5) have a spot in a licensed, accredited childcare program to support their growth, development, and school-readiness. Help MCUM provide this service at a price working families can afford by getting our second site up and running this summer!
