Volunteer: MoCOAD Wish List

United Way of South Central Indiana—in cooperation with Monroe County COAD and Greene County officials—has activated a Tornado Disaster Relief Fund to support long-term recovery efforts for low- and moderate-income neighbors in Monroe and Greene counties.

As our region always does, local agencies and volunteers are coming together to meet urgent needs. Your support can make a real difference for those in the hardest-hit areas—especially where traditional assistance falls short.

Volunteer: MoCOAD members and on-call volunteers

In times of disaster, everyone has something they can contribute to the community. Be it tangible goods, services, manpower, or time, everyone can help. The Community Organization Active in Disaster for Monroe County (MoCOAD)  is an organization composed of representatives from public, private, and non-profit agencies. A COAD's mission is to enhance the community's ability to mitigate, prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.

Volunteers are needed to join the MoCOAD, in two capacities.

First, the MoCOAD is looking to expand its community reach and is looking for additional local government and emergency managers, non-profit organizations, faith-based groups, and businesses to join the COAD, attend monthly meetings, and get involved in local disaster relief efforts for Monroe County.

Secondly, volunteers 18yrs. and older are needed to fill “on-call needs” during disaster response. These volunteers would assist with tasks like water/food distribution, and other community needs. On-call volunteers would be placed on a list, and the MoCOAD would activate them as needed. Hours would vary based on the need. Background checks and waivers of liability are required.
