Volunteer: Dearly Departed Cemetery Tours

Explore the stories that have outlived the deceased at one of Bloomington's most historic cemeteries.

Duties: Assist with setup and teardown, guiding parking, and greeting tour participants. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to go on a tour during their shift.

Training: On-site training provided. Note that volunteers will be standing in Rose Hill Cemetery alone at night. While flashlights will be provided and tours will be going through the cemetery, the experience can be unnerving for some. Please consider this when signing up as a volunteer.

Volunteer: Skate and Scare

The Frank Southern Ice Arena is transformed into a Halloween haven where participants can skate around the ice rink under fun lighting effects and spooky tunes, or they can take a stroll through the haunted house that is set up within the mini-maze of locker rooms.

Duties: Looking for a unique, spooky, great time this Halloween, and a reason to dress up in costume?
• Shift #1 volunteers help set up and bring the theme of the haunted house to life.

• Shift #2 volunteers will be a character in the haunted house (skating skills not required).

• Shift #3 volunteers will help with event support and with teardown.

Training:
On-site training provided. Volunteer actors for the haunted house will be given instructions prior to the day of the event.

Volunteer: Bloomington Youth Basketball Season II Coaching

The Bloomington Youth Basketball (BYB) League focuses on basketball fundamentals and the application of learned skills during game participation for players in grades K-6. All leagues are coed through Grade 3; girls play in a girls-only league beginning in Grade 4.

Season includes weekly practices and games on one night a week. Teams practice two nights a week for the first week of the season, then one night a week for the remainder of the season.

Practice times and days are determined by the volunteer coach. Times can vary between 5:30-7:30 p.m. based on the coach's schedule. Parent/player requests for placement on specific teams are not accepted. All requests must be submitted by volunteer coaches.

- Season runs October 13 – December 11.
- Practices begin the week of October 13. 
- Games begin the week of October 20.
- Games and practices are not held the week of November 24.

This volunteer opportunity registers you for the mandatory coaches' meeting and coach draft that will be held on OCTOBER 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center. Upon registering, you will immediately receive a confirmation email with more detailed information. Please review it carefully.

Duties: We are looking for coaches who can commit to once-weekly practices and one game per week. Time and day of games are determined by grade level. Volunteer coaches will enjoy making a difference in the lives of kids and can help develop our next big college basketball star.

Timeline: Prospective coaches sign up by SEPTEMBER 26. Selected coaches must attend a mandatory Coaches' Meeting and Coach Draft on OCTOBER 1 at 6:30 p.m. All selected coaches must complete an annual online coaching certification course from the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA).
