Road to Recovery Drivers

One of the biggest roadblocks to cancer treatment can be lack of transportation. That's why the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program provides patients in need with free rides to treatment. Volunteer to drive when it's convenient with your schedule. Not only would you help give patients a much-needed ride, but you might also be surprised by the pick-me-up you get in return!

Report to the VP of fundraising and work closely with the VP of Production to ensure all food requests are being met for the Relay For Life event Solicit a variety of food donations for Relay For Life Work with other committees to determine requests for food for different groups and estimate number of plates to be served for the Relay For Life event Assist in the solicitation of prize’s to be distributed to participants and teams

We need a Fraternity Chair Person to take the lead on:

Recruiting one team from every fraternity and ensuring that all teams meet their fundraising goals

Getting a committed team captain from each house in the spring semester before summer break.

Visiting the houses to sign up participants

Making banners for each house with a team.

Staying in close contact with each team captain, aiding in fundraising, recruiting and on-site fundraising.

Encouraging participants to stay through the night

Come up with incentives to get participants to come and stay (chapter dinner, gift-cards, et)

Plan on site fundraisers (ex: burger eating contest)

Join the team putting together the 2019 Relay for Life at Indiana University!
We need an individual to take the lead on planning for Ceremonies & Luminaria. As a volunteer in this role you will:

Plan an opening ceremony, a closing ceremony, luminaria ceremony and survivor stories to be done once an hour throughout the night.

For the opening ceremony, an interactive part with all or some of the audience to get their attention. Solicit a speaker, either a University official, or a cancer survivor. Plan speech part by a Relay/ACS perspective (you or someone else)

Plan a moving luminaria ceremony focused on honor and remembrance. Be creative

Plan an interactive closing ceremony since less people will be in attendance. Use your creativity to make it inspirational for those who are there

Write up/ recruit others to write up/ tell a survivor story (about a minute or two long) to be told/ shown once an hour throughout the night.

Work with the fundraising team to organize the selling of the luminarias. Organize and present all luminarias at Relay (PowerPoint, reading names, etc.

Could you be our Digital Media Chairperson?

We are looking for an individual to:

Create promotional relay videos for this year’s relay.

Take photographs of all relay events, fundraisers, and the night of the event

Distribute photos and videos to VP’s after the event

Videotape all big relay events and fundraisers and making a sum-up video showing relay’s success, our total amount raised and thanking participants.
