Volunteer Position Descriptions:
Crisis Housing (Weekend Animal Care) Shifts are normally 8:00-10 AM, 12-2 PM, and 6-8PM:
Volunteers play a vital role in providing comfort and care to our furry residents in our program. Whether you're an early riser or a night owl, we offer flexible shifts to accommodate your schedule. Choose from morning, midday, or afternoon shifts to suit your availability and lend a helping hand to our beloved animals. Shift will usually consist of feeding, walking, cleaning kennels and litter boxes, along with providing enrichment time.
Mobile Clinic:
Volunteers assist with registration and ensuring a smooth process from start to finish. Whether it's completing registration paperwork or answering any questions you may have. You may also sign up as an animal liaison they accompany the pet to and from the vet, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the appointment. Our mobile clinic offers convenience and accessibility, ensuring that all pets receive the care they deserve.
Special Events:
Volunteers can help at fundraising events and tabling opportunities in our community. These events include Tails on the Town fundraising gala in April and Run for the Animals 5K/Barktoberfest the first Sunday in October.
Group Request:
Any requests for groups to volunteer at the Monroe County Humane Association must be submitted to mcha@monroehumane.org at least 3 weeks in advance. Volunteer groups cannot interact with animals without supervision, so group activities focus on helping in our Pet Food & Supply Pantry or an outside project, such as mulching, weeding, cleaning, etc., when this type of work is available. Groups can also support our organization by conducting a supply drive or hosting a fundraising event.
Prospective volunteers are required to undergo our
screening process. They must have a clean record with the Monroe County Humane
Association, free from any negative incidents or previous violent, severe, or
animal-related offenses. We maintain the rightto decline individuals if we deem it necessary for the well-being of the
Monroe County Humane Association and its inhabitants.
