Looking for one dedicated Saturday volunteer at the Bloomington Community Bike Project
We're looking for one person to spend their summer Saturday afternoons at the shop, working alongside one of our most experienced mechanics. No experience needed. What we're really after is someone who is reliable and ready to learn.
This is the kind of opportunity that's hard to find anywhere else. You'll go from "I think that's a derailleur?" to confidently diagnosing and fixing real bikes for real people in your community. You'll learn from someone who's been doing this for years, in a one-on-one apprentice-style setting that you simply can't get from a YouTube rabbit hole. And you'll become part of the local bike community along the way.
What you'll get out of it:
- Real, hands-on bike mechanic skills, taught by someone who knows their stuff
- The genuinely good feeling of fixing a bike and handing it back to someone who needs it
- A foothold in Bloomington's bike scene and the people who make it roll
What we're asking from you:
- A consistent commitment to Saturdays this summer (a few hours each week)
- Curiosity and a willingness to ask questions when you're stuck
- Resourcefulness when you need to figure something out on your own
- Patience and friendliness when helping clients fix and find bikes in the shop
If this sounds like your kind of summer, sign up here and we'll get in touch. We'll only be selecting one person for this role, so apply now!
