Area 10 Agency on Aging’s annual Safe at Home Event, a half-day blitz to improve home safety for our older neighbors in Monroe and Owen counties, is needing volunteers for Saturday, 10/4 from 9 to noon (or less, depending on project). We have several projects that need volunteers. The types of work needed are listed below, all different projects. We have a need for non-skilled and skilled volunteers.
Non-skilled individuals are needed for cleaning gutters at a one-story home in Owen County. Skilled volunteers are needed for grab bar installation, replacing deck boards on one and removing/rebuilding deck boards on another.
We need volunteers to sign up by Sept. 24th to match with a project and determine which homes we can do based on volunteers. If you could help but would need a different day, especially the ramp build, let us know, as we could possibly coordinate that. This is a great chance to put in 2-3 hours to make a real positive impact on a senior neighbor! To accommodate skilled help, we can coordinate an alternate day for the work, just let us know!
