Volunteer: EF Day Program Volunteer

Employment Fundamentals day program during the day Monday - Friday.

There are many classrooms each with their unique characteristics and culture. There are many different activities such as playing board games, dance party, bingo, etc. There are also classes such as social skills, life skills, employment skills, cooking, art, dancing, fishing and MUCH more.

We are welcoming volunteers to simply help have fun and participate in these such activities. This not only helps to grow relationships, but the extra support helps to encourage participation. So you get to meet new people, develop relationships, have fun, and maybe even learn something yourself!!

No previous experience is necessary; this is a great way to learn more about people with developmental disabilities. There is some training required, along with background checks. We are also asking for a semi regular schedule (e.g. two hours a week on Tuesdays).

Volunteer: Job-A-Palooza 2026 Volunteer

Job-A-Palooza Volunteer

On October 28, 2026

at The Warehouse (1525 S Rogers St, Bloomington, IN 47403)

Event Description: Job-A-Palooza is a one-day event where individuals with disabilities can explore different careers through hands-on activities and conversations with local employers. Participants will have the opportunity to try new tasks, learn about different jobs, discover their interests and strengths, and explore career paths that may be a good fit for them. We typically have around 20 different businesses that bring a task or simulated activity that represents a job or skill that they do at their business.

Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed to support the businesses at their tables. Businesses can often only bring 1, maybe 2 people, which doesn't allow them breaks or time to eat lunch. We are seeking volunteers to provide assistance where needed, fill in the gaps, and give businesses breaks as needed.

Required Paperwork: We do ask you to sign some paperwork when you arrive to volunteer. This just ensures you follow our policies.

Volunteer: Spiritual Companion

Spiritual Companion Do you regularly attend a faith community?

(Church, Temple, Synagogue, Mosque, etc)

Are you interested in making a new friend? Are you interested in helping someone have access to their faith community?  You will be matched up with an individual who attends or wants to attend the same congregation. We will also consider the needs of the individual and the gifts, talents, and abilities you bring.  Whether you attend on a weekday or weekend - we welcome you and your support. Supports may include (but not limited to):

- transportation to and from worship, congregational activities/events, etc.

- a friend to sit with

- Someone to talk to before, during, or after

- Maybe a friend to just hang out with occasionally

- Some may need more physical support and assistance

The goal is: to provide access and create meaningful relationships - thus moving past inclusion and toward BELONGING

Far majority of people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities do have a faith tradition that is important to them. However,  many do not attend regularly. The two biggest reasons for this are: they don't feel welcome, and they don't have access (transportation). This leads to exclusion; exclusion from their faith, exclusion from meaningful relationships, and more.

This opportunity will not only enrich the life of your Spiritual Companion but also enrich YOUR life.

Volunteer: Friendship Program

Do you want to make a new friend? Do you like to go to the Bloomington Speedway, sport events, movies, concerts, hanging out with good company?

We are looking for volunteers who would like to make a new friend and take a buddy to these such events and activities. It can be difficult to meet new friends, especially when you don't have your own transportation. So this is an opportunity to meet new people, make friends, and have some fun.

If you do not have experience in working with individuals with disabilities, that's okay. Don't let your own fears or anxiety stand in the way of this opportunity. We will meet you where you are.

There will be an initial interview, training, background check, and drivers background check. First step is to click "respond" and Sarah McKenney will be in touch with you about how to get the fun started.
