Financial Phone Volunteers (PV) - work from home

Return calls sent to our special email address from individuals who need financial help. Calls are returned when individuals dial our hotline and leave a message or fill out the request application on our website.Assign HV to call client to discuss need.The typical time frame is about 4 hrs. in the morning OR afternoon once a week or every other week on the day and time convenient for the volunteer.

Home Visitors (HV) - Interviews now conducted from your home via Phone

Call client and conduct interview based on pre-developed questions.Listen to their concerns.Suggest resource information found on Resource Sheets you will have.Tell client what SVdP can pay based on our guidelines at the time.Fill out Form on website based on answers the volunteer obtained.

Furniture Phone Volunteers (FPV) - work from home

Return calls to clients who need furniture or appliances ORReturn calls to individuals who wish to donate furniture.Record info on our website form

Furniture Warehouse Pickup (FPU) and Delivery Volunteers (FDV)

Commit a 2-4 hour weekday (volunteer chooses the day) to pickup furniture from donors; volunteer decides frequency and day of week ORCommit 2-4 hours Saturday morning to distribute furniture to those in need;May use their own pickup truck or our SVdP truck; work in pairsClient must have their own helpers to move furniture into their apt., mobile home, or house.

Furniture Description-Volunteer at Warehouse

Saturday morning, call clients who have been approved to get furniture and describe what is available in the warehouse; volunteer decides what Saturday(s).

Fundraising and Marketing Committee - work from home

Research grants available for Not-for-Profit organizations ORGather information and help write grants OR help develop public awareness

WHY DONATE?    Extend the life of your usable furniture and appliances by giving to those in need in Bloomington and Monroe County.

WHO WILL BENEFIT?   Local persons and families in need who receive your items.

We Accept dropoffs of acceptable items at our warehouse on Saturday mornings between 8 am and 11 am and on most Wednesdays and Fridays between 11 am and 1 pm at  1999 N Packing House Rd -- Drop Off Instructions

OUR IN-KIND DONATION WISH LIST:

Gently used furniture and working appliances. We are in desperate need of working washers and dryers.  Our waiting list has over 50 families with children on it. Clean twin, full, and queen size mattresses. box springs, frames, and dressers are also in high demand.  Couches, chairs, microwaves, lamps, tables & LCD or LED TVs Vacuum cleaners,  fans, refrigerators, space heaters, microwaves, stoves, and window air conditioners

WHAT WE DON'T ACCEPT

We do not accept any items that need to be cleaned or repaired. Items from buildings with bed bug problems *King Size bed components or any waterbeds Building Supplies Clothing Desk with tops > 48" x 30" Dishwashers Patio furniture & grills Heavy items that require more than 2 people to move or items that are difficult to move Most medical equipment Pianos Stereos We No Longer Accept Old Style Tube / CRT Televisions
