Opportunities From: City of Bloomington Volunteer Network

Volunteer: Leadership Mentoring/Expertise

Elevate serves to connect experts in the community who are interested in short-term volunteer opportunities with nonprofits. Opportunities may include one-time consultations, a series of consultations on a specific topic, or working together on a specific project. It is envisioned that opportunities that work out well may evolve into long-term volunteer roles, which Elevate celebrates but does not manage.

We are interested in all areas of expertise that a growing nonprofit might need, including, but not limited to:

Leadership development and mentoring for Executive Directors

Mentoring for new Board Presidents

Finances (changing fiscal years, moving from cash to accrual accounting, etc.)

Human Resources (reviewing personnel plans, mentoring challenging situations, etc.)

Facilities/physical infrastructure advising

Legal advice

Succession planning

Board development

As Elevate identifies volunteer opportunities that may be a good match, you will be contacted with details. If the match seems to be a good fit of mutual interest by you and the nonprofit, Elevate will put you in touch with the staff at the nonprofit and allow you and the nonprofit to work out specifics on accomplishing the task.

Unless you request otherwise, Elevate will share your name and area(s) of interest publicly to help match-make your expertise with nonprofits who could benefit from it.

If challenges arise at any point during the volunteer opportunity, Elevate may be contacted by either the volunteer or the nonprofit to help resolve the challenges.

When a volunteer opportunity is complete, Elevate will follow up with the volunteer and nonprofit separately to discern the success of the process and any lessons learned.
