The inclusion of an organization or person does not constitute an endorsement with respect to the competence, suitability, or reliability of such organization or person by the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network (CBVN); nor does CBVN sponsor or endorse any third-party website. Organizations may have their own individual requirements for participation, so it is recommended that volunteers contact each organization directly.

Acceptance of Terms and Conditions of Use: Your use indicates your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions listed below. From time to time, these Terms and Conditions may be revised by updating this document and posting it on the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network (CBVN) website. If at any time you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you must cease your use of this Web Site.

Volunteers:

Please use this system only for its intended purpose, which is expressing interest in volunteering for a specific volunteer opportunity. Its use to send unsolicited email messages about products or services is expressly forbidden and will lead to the termination of user privileges.

Organizations:

1. You are solely responsible for registering your organizational profile and posting and updating your organizational listings. The CBVN reserves the right to edit these postings which must be approved by a CBVN administrator before they are available to the public. Approval takes approximately 48 hours. 
   
   
2. Each organization which posts profiles and listings with the CBVN warrants that it:

o   Has an organizational presence and utilizes volunteers in Monroe or surrounding counties Brown, Lawrence, Owen, and Greene. (Bloomingtonand Monroe County constitute the primary service area of the CBVN, however, the CBVN recognizes that many people who live/work in Monroe County have strong ties in surrounding counties.) 

o   Meets one or more of the following criteria:

• Is a legally incorporated nonprofit entity, or
• Is registered with the IRS as a tax-exempt entity, or
• Is a governmental entity, or
• Is a legally incorporated educational entity, or
• Is a faith-based organization recruiting volunteers to engage in health and human service type activities, not proselytizing or religious activities, or
• Is a neighborhood association recognized by the City of Bloomington, or
• Is a for-profit entity recruiting volunteers to engage in a subsidiary non-profit /humanitarian venture or in direct client contact, or
• Is an issue-oriented and/or advocacy organization that is either legally incorporated or registered with the IRS as a tax-exempt entity.

o   Will provide a safe environment in which to volunteer. 

o   Will provide regular maintenance of their organizational profile and listings, updating at least every six (6) months and as needed is a best practice.

3. The CBVN reserves the right to refuse any organization which is engaged primarily in politically partisan efforts, i.e. endorsing a political candidate or a political party. 
   
   
4. The CBVN reserves the right to refuse any organization whose volunteer program mission and purpose it finds contrary to the spirit of volunteerism.
   
   
5. Organizations must update their organization profile, opportunities, and contacts at least every six (6) months to remain in good standing. The CBVN reserves the right to deactivate any organization that does not keep their contacts and opportunities up to date.
   
   
6. Organizations must participate in the annual Partner Report Survey to remain in good standing. The CBVN reserves the right to deactivate any organization that does not submit a response to the annual Partner Report Survey.
   
   
7. All active opportunities posted on the BloomingtonVolunteerNetwork.org website will be shared and cross-posted to the IUCorps website accessible to IU Bloomington students.
   
   
8. All active opportunities posted on the BloomingtonVolunteerNetwork.org website are eligible to be publicized through Bloomington Volunteer Network media promotions.

Privacy Policy

Confidentiality is a hallmark of professionalism.

City of Bloomington Volunteer Network uses reasonable commercial efforts to avoid disclosure of information which is confidential, privileged or nonpublic other than in accordance with this privacy policy.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

City of Bloomington Volunteer Network gathers personally identifiable data when voluntarily submitted by a user, which may include: name, addresses, zip codes, e-mail addresses, donor choice information, etc. For example, personally identifiable information may be collected in order to record a stated desire to donate online to City of Bloomington Volunteer Network via a direct gift or through a company sponsored campaign. This information is used solely by City of Bloomington Volunteer Network or other parties to the transaction for the purpose of executing the transaction, to improve your experience with us, and for the internal business purposes of City of Bloomington Volunteer Network.

We are the sole owners of the information collected. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization other than affiliates, contractors, advisors, service providers or in our reasonable discretion to investigate or prevent fraud, illegal activity or misuse of our web site.

Periodically City of Bloomington Volunteer Network will send electronic communications in newsletter format or another format to our constituents, which include donors, volunteers and other business contacts. Typically these communications include information regarding community investment reporting, funded program information and results, news and events, as well as other pertinent information we feel should be reported to our constituents. Recipients retain the option to opt-out of these communications at any point in time.

If you sign up to receive news and information from us via our web site, you are electing to receive e-mail communication from us. During registration a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about our programs and other areas on our site in which you have expressed interest. At your option, you may also provide additional preference information, but it is not required.

We may collect your IP (Internet Protocol) address to administer our web site.
