Nonprofit Board Development Training Seminar 2026

Location: All sessions will be held at the downtown Monroe County Public Library (303 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, IN, 47408) in Rooms 2B/2C.

Dates & Times: Thursdays, May 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Age Restriction: Age 18 and up.

 

New to a nonprofit board or a veteran board member facing difficult situations?

Finding board service challenging?

Want to be a better board member? Learn fundamentals of effective board governance in this interactive training series.


This training is designed to support:

·         New and currently serving board members

·         Board members between service

·         Board members who have leadership roles

·         Board members who have a role in planning

·         Staff who need help working with their board


Over the four, two-hour sessions we'll cover the following topics:

·         Session one: mission, vision, and values in nonprofit board recruitment

·         Session two: board orientation and avoiding negative board dynamics

·         Session three: strategies to achieve a better board and staff-board dynamics

·         Session four: strategic planning and fundraising and finances



Don't Wait to Sign Up!:

Participation is limited to 40 nonprofit representatives--we are expecting to have signups exceed this amount. There will be a waitlist and expectation is for participants to commit to attending all sessions. Registration is for all four sessions.
